Color of the Year 2024

Every year, all of the major US paint companies release their own “color of the year.” And like most interior designers, we have our go-to paint brands. We tend to specify Dunn Edwards paints for most of our projects, and we also frequently work with Sherwin Williams. Both companies carry high quality paint with eco-friendly options. This year, Sherwin Williams and Dunn Edwards chose two different shades of blue as their colors of the year.

So we decided to create a couple of mood boards to explore how each of these colors might be used in a design project. Take a look!

 

Dunn Edwards DET567 Skipping Stones

This vibrant blue tone will fit right in to most modern spaces! We paired it with a fun, terrazzo countertop, a mustard green tile, and some highly textured fabrics. The geometric rug ties it all together. Read more about Dunn Edwards’ selection here.

 

Sherwin Williams SW 6239 Upward

This one felt a little bit less modern in our opinion. So we paired it with a traditional area rug, a striped fabric, a creamy boucle, and a grasscloth wallpaper swatch. It’s pretty and not too loud, so it would work in a variety of spaces. Read more about Upward here.
