What does an interior designer do?
Interior designers create indoor spaces that are not only beautiful, but also functional. It’s our job to determine the best possible layout for your home, whether you’re remodeling your kitchen or purchasing living room furniture.
We also have experience working with manufacturers in the furniture, lighting, plumbing, and appliance industries, and we have connections with expert salespeople who work with those products regularly. This means that we can also provide you with high quality products that will elevate the look and feel of your home, and reduce end-user frustration.

What certifications and education do you have?
Our principal designer, Leah Connolly, is a Certified Interior Designer (CID) in the State of California. She has a bachelor’s degree in Design from UC Davis, and has over 9 years of hands-on design experience. She is also a LEED Green Associate.
How much do interior design services cost?
Studio Connolly has several different pricing options available depending on your scope of work. For our full-service projects, we always start with a Kick-Start Consultation for $475. After the consultation, we charge $200 per hour for our design time, and we always provide an estimate for total design fees.

Do you create 3D renderings?
We typically don’t create 3D renderings, no. A rendering can take multiple days to create, and since we charge by the hour we’ve found that it’s not a particularly good use of design time.
However, we do create design boards. A design board is like a Photoshop collage that will help you visualize our furniture selections and/or remodel materials. If you find that you’re still having trouble seeing the full picture, we do have the option to outsource a 3D rendering to a 3rd party vendor. However, we have found that our design boards do the trick 99.9% of the time.
Can you create floor plans for a remodel?
Yes! We often create plan sets for construction projects. A typical set includes: a demolition plan, new layout, elevation drawings, and suggested electrical layout. We create all drawings using AutoCAD.
Do you have contractors you can recommend?
Absolutely. We work with several talented, Sacramento-based construction teams on a regular basis. If you don’t already have a contractor you’re working with, we’re happy to refer one of our favorite teams to work on your project with us!
How long will my interior design project take?
Our typical design phase takes about 6-10 weeks from the time we measure your home until the design presentation. Product orders and construction timelines will be determined by suppliers and tradespeople. You can read more about rough timelines in the “Implementation Phase” section of our design process page.
What if I only need a design for one room?
We can certainly do single-room projects, especially when you’re doing the whole room top-to-bottom. For full service projects, we have a 15 hour minimum ($3,000 in design fees). And we also offer the option for a one-time consultation if you just need some advice.

Studio Connolly offers full-service interior design in Sacramento, California, and the surrounding area. Our normal service radius includes: Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Granite Bay, Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, and Davis.
However, we also offer virtual design services, which are available to anyone!
