My Favorite Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been itching to do some spring cleaning around my house. So I thought I’d share my favorite eco-friendly cleaning products in case you’re on the hunt! Click on the name of each product to purchase.

1. Grove Multi-Purpose Cleaner

I LOVE the smell of their Lavender Blossom & Thyme scent. It’s 92% plant-based and free of phthalates, phosphates, dyes, ammonia, and chlorine bleach. It’s awesome for any non-porous surface (like your countertops & tiles). Plus, it comes as a concentrate in a little recyclable glass jar, so all you have to do is dump it into your favorite spray bottle & fill the rest with water.

2. Method Wood Polish

Another great-smelling product (almond, this time), this one is great for bringing out your wood furniture’s natural shine. Plus, Method is a certified B Corporation and the bottle is 100% recycled and recyclable.

3. Green Lifestyle Terry Towels

We’ve been using these small towels in place of paper towels for at least a year now, and I love them! It was such a simple switch, and we put a small trash can under our sink to put them in once they’re used. They’re easy to wash with our other laundry each week and I can’t even count the number of paper towels we’ve saved.

4. Seventh Generation Zero Plastic Toilet Bowl Cleaning Powder

This stuff is BPA-free, cruelty free, fragrance free, and made by another certified B Corporation. It’s super easy to use – you just sprinkle the powder on the surface of the water in the toilet bowl and wait for it to foam up, then scrub like normal. One container lasts longer than your usual toilet cleaner, and it’s recyclable and refillable.

5. Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner

We use this water-based and biodegradable cleaner with a reusable pad on our Swiffer mop. It’s mostly plant based, Safer Choice certified, and free of harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, ammonia, and petroleum. Plus, the refill size means a better product to plastic ratio.

Bonus: Head to your local eco shop or refill store!

You’ll find tons of non-toxic and eco-friendly cleaning products at Nudge Eco Store and Refill Madness – I highly recommend checking them out! They’re also great resources if you’re looking for a specific type of product, even if they don’t carry it. Or if you’re not in the Sacramento area, do a little searching around for a similar shop near you.

Happy cleaning!
