Cheerful Charmer

A Curtis Park Remodel

Photos: Kat Alves Photography

Contractor: GoodSpace High Performance Builders

We completely transformed the main floor of this charming, two-story home during this Curtis Park remodel. These clients approached us after a major leak had forced them to demolish their kitchen several months prior. So we got right to work coming up with a new, more functional kitchen layout, with a better flow into the living and dining area.

The clients loved Spanish, Bohemian, and Modern Farmhouse interior design styles. We took a little bit of inspiration from each one and came up with the perfect combination of color, texture, and pattern throughout. The vibrant, green cabinets and gold hardware stand out against the neutral but highly textured backsplash tiles. Wood floors and plenty of wood accent furniture bring a lot of warmth to the space. And patterned area rugs and throw pillows add personality and an extra layer of coziness.

In the living room, we opted for an energy-efficient electric fireplace insert. The surrounding hand-painted accent tiles from Fireclay Tile create a stunning focal point for the room. To avoid taking attention away from the tile, we chose a Samsung Frame TV that looks like art when not in use. And the arched built-in provides media storage while mimicking the arched doorways we added in the kitchen.

We brought in some of the client’s existing artwork, including a unique pair of koa wood paddles, and added some additional art pieces that nod to the client’s Hawaiian heritage. The series of 3 art pieces in the kitchen are a particular favorite, created by an artist in Hawaii. To finish off the space, we styled the shelves and tabletops using plants and some of the client’s meditation sculptures.

This Curtis Park remodel has to be one of our favorite projects in Sacramento, to date! Click here to get started on your own project.
