Taking inspiration from the 80s – think Miami Vice – we went all-out with vibrant colors and glam accessories for this Sacramento model home at The Mill at Broadway, just south of downtown. Early in the process, we decided not to hold back…and we definitely kept our word!
First, we got to pick the cabinet colors, countertops, backsplashes, and carpeting throughout the home, which were all installed by the model home builders. Then, we just had fun with it! Starting with a modular, pink velvet sofa, we added a few teal accents and some brushed gold accessories, and were soon well on our way to creating a fabulous, retro space. We even created a faux black marble dining table for an extra layer of glam on the main floor.
The guest bedroom quickly became a crowd pleaser with the model home visitors. The bright salmon accent wall and mustard yellow duvet create a surprisingly inviting combination, paired with a white shag rug. And the main bedroom, with its upholstered headboard and terrazzo-inspired art, feels both sophisticated and fun. We had a blast creating these stylized spaces!
P.S. The stairs didn’t make it into these photos, but we chose a crazy, teal carpet with a retro pattern for an unexpected surprise. Interior design for model homes allows for some bold choices, so we did just that.
