Occasionally, we get the chance to bring our own personal interior design style into a space. And that’s exactly what happened in this Sacramento model home for The Mill at Broadway. Channeling the plant-filled and artisan spaces we’ve experienced in Morocco and Spain, we created an eclectic, bohemian space full of texture and life.
We started by selecting the cabinet materials, tiles, flooring, and paint colors for the entire home, so that the model home builders could start bringing our vision to life. Next, we created the perfect layout to for an almost-downtown lifestyle. Then we filled the spaces with furniture, rugs, artwork, and other decor, layering in plenty of textiles and details.
The living room, with its tufted leather sofa and black jute rug, invites visitors to take a seat and relax, while the rounded, woven barstools tie that warmth into the kitchen. The bedrooms are the crowd favorites, though, with a black accent wall and handwoven wall art in the guest room and an intricate, bamboo bed frame in the main bedroom. Both bedrooms have beautifully patterned wool rugs with lots of yummy texture. Since this is a model home, real plants weren’t an option with nobody to care for them, but we sprinkled faux greenery throughout for an urban jungle effect.
