An Arden Park Furnishing Project

From the moment we stepped into this empty midcentury modern home in Arden Park, we knew it was going to become a favorite. The iconic sloped ceilings, high windows, and cinder block wall in the living room served as the perfect backdrop for some new furniture and decor. So we made a design plan that would honor the architecture of the home, while also incorporating the client’s love of plants, color, and eclectic, bohemian details.

Entering the home, you’ll walk directly into the den. We created a cozy music haven using the client’s record player and a walnut cabinet to store his vinyl collection. The bold, mustard accent wall contrasts beautifully with the white, cinderblock fireplace. And a gallery wall that’s bursting with funky art pieces adds even more interest. Plus, what midcentury home would be complete without a classic Eames chair for lounging and listening?

In the living room, we centered the room around a show-stopping gold velvet sofa that practically begs you to plop down and relax. The geometric bohemian rug, Noguchi-inspired coffee table, and funky leather swivel chairs create a stylish but comfortable conversation space. And in the dining area next to it, we paired a walnut tulip table with Breuer-inspired dining chairs, but mixed it up a bit with green velvet seat cushions. They’re the perfect combo of comfy and chic.

Finally, let’s talk bedrooms. In the primary, we opted for deep, moody green walls that just ooze relaxation. The extra-wide wood headboard with attached nightstands adds warmth and clean lines. And the graphic art and rug tie in with the furniture in the rest of the house. We kept the guest room a little lighter and brighter, but it’s just as colorful. The cane headboard and geometric art & pillows add just the right touch of texture and style.
