Design Trends: Las Vegas Market

What happens in Vegas…definitely shouldn’t stay there, because I have SO many fun design trends to share with you!

Pre-pandemic, I used to travel to Las Vegas Market about once a year. It’s a huge convention that takes place at the World Market Center in Las Vegas, where thousands of furniture and decor manufacturers gather to show off their products. As a designer, it’s so important for me to go and see the new items introduced each year! Since most of my sources aren’t available to the public, I need to be able to sit-test and touch all of the pieces I’ll be recommending to you for your home.

I finally got to make the trip this time around, and I took approximately 6.2 million photos of products and design trends I loved. Ok, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but I took a LOT of photos! So I’m narrowing it down to 7 of my favorite trends I spotted on my 2-day trip. Take a look below to see what has me excited for future projects!

Terra-cotta Tones

This color kept popping up in several of the showrooms I visited, and I’m all about it. If you’ve looked through my portfolio and my Instagram page, you know I love a good terra cotta tone. Bedding, sofas, accent chairs, rugs…you name it, they had it in terra cotta. I can’t wait to start using this earthy color more often!

“Found” Artifacts

I love it when accessory manufacturers create pieces that look more like a “found object” or artifact than a traditional piece of home decor. Antiqued vessels, old books, and carved wood sculptures can give any shelf a sophisticated and well-traveled look. They add so much texture and dimension to a space, and often feel more intentional than a standard candle or vase.

Earthy, Geometric Rugs

My favorite rug manufacturers went all-in on neutral geometrics this year, and I loved them all. I was especially drawn to the ones that looked like someone might have drawn the pattern freehand, like the one on the right. That one is definitely going to make its way into my next boho living room design!

Textured Sideboards

Most of the time, sideboards/buffets end up being an afterthought in a dining room. Something that coordinates with the dining table to provide some extra storage. But this year at Market I found SO MANY showstopper sideboards! The one on the left is made of stone, and the one on the right is hand-carved wood. I can’t wait to create a focal point moment with one of these.

Framed Textiles

One word: obsessed. I absolutely love the look of a woven piece of art behind glass. It adds so much texture to the room, while maintaining the elevated look of framed artwork. In fact, I’ll be adding one to my own home office very soon!

Fluted Things

Fluted textures were EVERYWHERE at Market. From side tables to vases to sconces, and everything in between. I love the grooved details and how much interest they bring to a space. It works in rooms of almost any style, too. Boho, contemporary, traditional, glam…you name it! The charcoal version of that side table on the left just might have made its way into a project I’m currently working on. Stay tuned!

Woven Lights

Last but certainly not least, woven lights showed up in almost every showroom I entered this year. This trend has been around for a couple of years now, and with good reason. It’s such a good way to add texture to a forgotten corner of your space, or to make a statement over your dining table. I haven’t used too many woven lights in my projects so this was a good reminder to keep them in mind for future ones!
