2023 Recap

The new year will be here before you know it, so let’s do a little 2023 recap! On the business side, it’s been a great year full of beautiful projects and wonderful clients. And on the personal side, Devin and I have made some great memories together with our friends & family.

Take a look below for some of my favorite moments of 2023:

1. Australia

In March, I had the opportunity to visit some family in Australia. I started with a 5-day stay in Brisbane with some of my cousins, and we all took a day trip together to Gold Coast, and another trip to the Australia Zoo (which I 100% recommend!!). I had so much fun spending time with family and seeing the sights – you wouldn’t believe the amount of wildlife just hanging out in city parks! Before heading home, I stopped in Sydney for a few days for some tourism and some more cousin time. The food scene there was incredible, and so were the views. I would definitely go back and highly recommend this as a destination if you’re up for a 15 hour flight!

2. Installing the Cheerful Charmer project

This project was a labor of love from start to finish, and I got to work with one of my go-to construction teams, GoodSpace High Performance Builders. The modern, Spanish-inspired spaces are full of healthy products, natural materials, artisan details, and personal touches for the clients. After starting construction in August of 2022 we installed furniture & decor in March of this year. Photos came a couple months later an we’re thrilled with the results! Check out the entire project in our portfolio here.

3. Our friends’ wedding in Italy

We’ve been lucky enough to make friends in multiple countries during our travels. This year, our dear friends from Austria got married in Tuscany and we were honored to be able to be there to celebrate with them. We stayed with them at the resort for a few nights before heading off on a week-long trip to the Amalfi Coast. It was our second time to Italy but first time visiting the Sorrentine Peninsula. We had a great time but came to the conclusion that it’s a little bit chaotic & crowded and we probably wouldn’t recommend it to first-time travelers in Europe.

4. High Point Market

I love going to furniture markets on a semi-regular basis to test out furniture in person and see the new introductions from my favorite suppliers. Typically, I go to Las Vegas since it’s such a short flight, but High Point, North Carolina is home to the largest furniture market in the US. It’s worth going out there every few years despite the long trek – I visited a total of 73 showrooms in five days! It was the definition of inspiration overload and I came away with a list of over 20 new suppliers to work with. I also had the chance to sit-test and feel new pieces from tons of my favorite lines. After all, if I’m going to supply these pieces to my clients I have to be knowledgeable about them!

5. Photoshoot for the Art Deco Dream project

After two whole years of construction, we finally wrapped up a series of bathroom remodels at this house in Lodi. We started with the primary bathroom (pictured here) back in November of 2021, followed by two kids’ bathrooms, a guest bath, a couple of powder rooms, and a pool bathroom. Even though there are other rooms in the house that are still in progress, it felt like an accomplishment to wrap up the dusty, messy work of the bathroom remodels. So we documented it with a photoshoot! Check out the entire project here.

6. Winning the Sacramento Favorites award & NKBA award

I was so honored to be selected as the Gold winner for the Sacramento Favorites contest, hosted by the Sacramento Bee! It’s a vote-based contest, which means that you all are the reason I won – thank you so much! I also found out a week or so later that my Cheerful Charmer project had been selected as the second place winner in the Large Kitchen category for the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s California Capital Chapter design competition. This one is a merit-based competition with official judges, and I even got a trophy to display in my office. Such a great way to end my third year in business!

Thank you so much for a great year, and I can’t wait for you to see all that 2024 has in store.

Happy holidays,
